Lead Pastor - Dan Rempel

Linda and I lived in Mission until we left for University in 1981, and pastoral ministry in Manitoba and in Yarrow. We returned to Mission to the Lead Pastor position at CVMC in 2000. We have four children Leanne & Colin Reimer, Jonathan, Julie, and Paul. We enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community where we were taught and encouraged by our own families and friends. In this fast paced culture I see that God is asking us as a congregation to be genuine and available for His direction. I see that God has a tremendous love that He is asking the church to reveal to the community in authentic and caring ways in order that the true message of the Bible might be heard clearly.

Student Ministries

Sandy and I have been serving as part of the pastoral team at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church since January 2004. We have been married since 1995 and have 4 fantastic children: Mikayla born in ’96, Ashton born in 98, Mackenzie born in 2001, and Abbey born in 2005. I came on as a student studying part time at ACTS Seminary working on my MDiv. after being a youth pastor in Saskatchewan for almost 5 years. Prior to our time in Saskatchewan Sandy and I both graduated from Providence College in Manioba with B.A.s (Sandy in Pre-Education and myself in... Aviation...?). We were thrilled to be invited to become the full-time Associate Pastor of Student Ministries in May of 2005.

My role is to give leadership to our budding College and Career (C&C) Ministry, our thriving Sr. Youth Ministry and oversee our raucous Jr. Youth Ministry. Our passion is to see every youth connect youth to Jesus, to each other and to the world. I am excited to be a part of a body of believers that lives our mission statement of “Following Christ and Caring for People”.

As a family we enjoy hiking, camping, watersliding, picking wild blackberries, watching airplanes and CFL Football.

HELLO! I started attending CVMC as a youth in the 70’s, was baptized into membership with my husband Len in 1985 and joined the staff in 1997. Over the years I have served in a variety of areas both at CVMC; Teaching childrens’ Sunday School, Pioneer Girls Club, Ladies Bible Study, Ladies Aerobic class, Sunday School Superintendent, Catering Committee, Ladies Night Out Committee, Women’s Ministry Committee, Maintenance Committee, Décor Committee and in the community; Parent Advisory Council leadership at the school and district levels as well as friends and skills acquired through my home-based businesses.

I have been blessed with the vast experiences that come with raising three sons and along with my husband of 30+years we have enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, motocross, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, delivering newspapers, home-schooling and gardening (the boys quickly decided they preferred not to like the foods that required hard work to harvest). Along with these joys have come many heartbreaking sorrows from physical to mental illness. God has also permitted us the painful experience of losing our youngest son in a tragic motorcycle accident on his way home from school right before graduation. This has given me a special appreciation and understanding of the needs encountered in serving those who choose CVMC as the location for a funeral or memorial service for their loved ones.

Outside of the office I look forward to road trips on the back of our Harley to the Okanagan
(not too sure about heading the prairies any more) and our annual fishing trip to northern Vancouver Island (gotta keep that spot a secret). Of course I have a well expanded collection of hobbies to get me through the winter and keep me moving forward day by day.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. II Corinthians 4:16-18

I find much joy in serving Christ through my assistance to the pastoral staff and many committee needs here at CVMC.  It is a pleasure to greet the many people visiting our church and find creative ways to help them. Stop by sometime!
